Chartered by Morningside Presbyterian Church, Scouts BSA Troop 29 was established on February 1st 2019 and coincided with the inaugural class of female Eagle Scouts, paving a new lane of adventure and opportunity for girls aged 11-17 from Atlanta and Decatur. In these five years the troop has enjoyed steady growth in its diverse membership as well as its list of accomplishments including multiple gold level Journey To Excellence Awards.
The Scout Law are 12 core values that are shared across the entire institution. They Include Trust, Loyalty, Helpfulness, Courtesy, Kindness, among valuable others. One that is particularly prevalent in Troop 29 is Friendliness. The highly inclusive environment has been the forging ground for profound connections that resemble a sisterhood. The culture surrounding the monthly outings and weekly meetings are welcoming and bonding. Established scouts are intentionally welcoming in the early weeks of a new scout’s first visit. This quickly becomes effortless as the time quickly passes and soon the friendship is solidified through shared experiences, teambuilding and mutual respect.
Scoutmaster Amber Ackerman has been with Troop 29 since the get go. She has worked closely with the scouts over the past 5 years to create a strong foundation and establish a unique program for this ambitious young troop. She empowers youth leaders to truly run the show by providing direction, coaching, and support.
Troop 29’s emotionally healthy culture helps stimulate Atlanta’s young ladies to prepare for life with skills and values gained through safe, real experiences. We hope that you’ll take a moment to introduce yourself and look into this opportunity that could lead to the adventure of a lifetime.
We’re glad you’re here.
Atlanta/Decatur’s All Girls Scouts BSA Troop is thriving and we want you to join us on this dynamic scouting experience.
